Venue Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Archery Lawn

Date Fri 17th Feb   Time 6.30pm-8.00pm

The 2012  Festival will be opened with a concert in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. The concert features local musicians such as Natalie Slade, Judith Bell and Lisa Tui, with special guest appearances to be announced.

To add colour to the occasion, one highlight will be 80 children ‘gate crashing’ the concert with ukuleles and choir singers to perform a piece of music dedicated to the rebuild of Christchurch. Don't miss the construction crane floral art installation, the Swingtown Rebels dance group and the Global Voices Choir.

Festival organizer Lisa Mills says “Music and art have such a positive impact on people. As the anniversary of the 2011 earthquake approaches we need to honour what we’ve lost and also look forward to a bright future. That’s why this is a free event for the people ... and a good chance to enjoy floral art, and all the colours of the Botanic Gardens”.

The event on Friday the 17th of February will be held in the Archery Lawn of the Botanic gardens. There will be live music and dancing. The concert is free and open to the public.
