Topiary Menagerie

A truly spectacular and creative addition to the Festival was this installation of 10, life-size topiary animal forms, including elephants and giraffes, that were on show in Victoria Square, delighting Garden City residents and visitors of all ages.  

Sadly, a matter of hours after this photograph was taken, a large group of vandals pushed the elephant over resulting in damage that meant the animal could not be uprighted.  However, it was decided to let the elephant remain on site with its little calf, as a message to the people of, and visitors to, Christchurch and Canterbury.
